Harry decides to redirect Dexter’s “Dark Passenger” in what Harry thought was a more positive outlet (sic) by teaching him “The Code”.  Harry’s Code for Dexter is that Dexter’s victims must be murderers themselves (unjustified killings), and must be the type of killer that would do so again, given the opportunity.  So Harry turns Dexter, a serial killer himself, into a sort of vigilante but with a very dark and extreme method of justice.  Like I said, Dexter is a very, very bad, good guy.

Just to make things more complicated, Dexter starts seeing a single mother named Rita (Julie Benz), who is having some ex-husband problems.  Her ex is a psycho in the normal sense (but not a murderer), and little does she know that she seems to be stuck in a pattern of dating bad guys.  Rita is emotionally traumatized by this piece of trash.  When Rita’s ex finds out that she is dating another guy, he goes ballistic and confronts Dexter.  Unfortunately for Rita’s ex (but fortunately for Rita), Dexter is a true psycho and fixes her little problem with her ex.  You will have to watch Dexter season 1 online to find out what Dexter does to the guy (its not what you expect).

There is a serial killer loose in Miami called “The Ice Truck Killer”.  He murders prostitutes and eludes the Miami Metro Police Department.  He also leaves things at the scene of the crime that are personally significant to Dexter, though only Dexter knows this when he examines the scene of the crime in his capacity as a forensic blood spatter analyst.  Dexter knows something is up because of this.  Watch Dexter Season 1 online by just clicking the Watch Now! button above.

Dexter is dating Rita (Julie Benz), a single mother who is emotionally traumatized by her soon-to-be-ex, Paul.  Paul is currently on parole because he was just released from prison.  Paul is a bad guy and wants Rita back, and when he finds out Dexter is seeing her, Paul threatens Dexter.  Wrong move, buddy!  Dexter knocks him out, and frames Paul to appear as if he has violated parole with heroin use.  Paul accuses Dexter of the framing, but Rita does not believe him because of Paul’s history.

Dexter’s adopted sister, Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) starts to date Rudy, a prosthesis doctor.  Little does Rita know that Rudy is actually The Ice Truck Killer everyone is after.  Rudy romances Debra, managing to fool her, and they become engaged.  At that point, Rudy kidnaps Debra and uses her as bait to get Dexter.  It is then revealed that Rudy is actually Brian, Dexter’s long-lost brother, and that this whole thing is a plot centered around Dexter.  Brian reveals that they, as young kids and brothers, together saw their mother’s murder by drug dealers.  The drug dealers left the boys to sit in a pool of their mother’s blood in a crate for two days.  This really messed up Brian, who spent many years in a funny farm.

Brian then reveals that he wants Dexter to kill Debra together, as a symbol of brotherhood, and as a symbol of closure between Dexter and his adopted family.

Dexter is torn, and hesitates to kill Debra.  He then decides to stop Brian from killing Debra, and before he can do more, the police show up, and Brian manages to escape.  Debra was never made aware of the real connection between Dexter and Brian (who she knew as Rudy).

Finally, when you watch Dexter Season 1 online, Dexter then lays a trap for his brother, and kills him, sticking to The Code.  He makes it look like Brian committed suicide.  After this, Dexter is torn again.  He saved his adopted sister Debra, but he knows that if she knew the truth about him, she would reject him and maybe turn him in, yet, he killed his brother, who he felt was the one person who truly understood him.  Man, life’s little problems a serial killer has to deal with!
